Cell Tower near Indian Moutain

Latest update we have gotten...
Hello everyone!Yesterday, after noticing two towers sticking up on the hill I hiked up to check on the progress. Actually, I drove half-way to just below the gate I was too lazy to open and close, twice. I met three fellows busily splicing the wires attached to the new real tower standing next to the buzzing humming temporary tower on the trailer. I was told the new real one is expected to be in operation next week sometime.
Follow up:
When I mentioned that my AllTel phone was still worthless, one guy asked what phone I had? What?
AllTel out of Salida. No, he said, what type phone do you have? Huh? I don't know, a fossil maybe, this old flat, long, thing with a wire for the antennae? Does it use 3-G? I doubt it knows the language since I've never heard of it myself. (I have had a few calls asking if the tower would be 3-G friendly, but what do I know?) So I heard that this new tower is 3-G equipped so all you people who know what that is can rejoice. My AllTel Fossilfone is soon becoming extinct.
Shannon got her A.T.& T. phone yesterday and came over to my house and sat here talking to Sam for 25 minutes with no breaks or drop-outs! I can't wait to coax her out on the east side of the ranch to see how it works out there where I think I might need it someday, when I get stuck in the bog or twist my ankle in a badger hole. This is not supposed to be an ad for A.T.&
T., BUT, it sure makes sense to me! The Salida AllTel office told me my service was being purchased by A.T.&T. and I would need to wait for the service adjustments and buy a new phone to get the coverage I want. After a little research into my contract details... Guess what? I am calling A. T.
& T. and getting what I need and a phone for free! The response from you users out there has been overwhelmingly positive from the A.T.& T. people.
The guy at the tower said the improvement on the highway is incredible and so say many people who call home on their way now.
I have heard that Verizon is playing a balancing game on the line between satisfying more customers and continuing to regard the rural community as inferior. Someone said they are doing some studies or surveys and others have said they were told, sorry it isn't that important to this office, there aren't enough customers to make a difference. To me this means, GIVE "EM HELL!! Call your provider every single day and let them know just how it makes you feel over and over again until they finally realize they cannot ignore us over here. So what if they see by caller I.D. that you just called yesterday and two days before, you need to embarrass them with persistent pain and suffering, so they hear what you are saying. I truly believe in the saying, "the squeaky wheel gets the grease", I use it regularly with great success, reference this tower being built. Face it, this is more of that 'bedroom community', look down the nose treatment from Summit County and the big city centers.
They mentioned that T-Mobile would be the next best service from the tower.
I have had some positive response from T-Mobile users too, one guy was sitting on the couch at his cabin, happy as the proverbial pig in ----!
And I did hear a small reference to some version of Verizon being helped from the tower workers, maybe that is the 3-G thing. I noticed the T.V. ads
have ramped up on that now, it isn't, "can you hear me now?" because there are people out there who can't hear at all, and they don't want the negative feedback! I just want to scream at them how wrong they are, so I scream at my T.V. and the cats look at me like I'm crazy, again, and leave the room.
Until next time, keep calling your provider, telling them like it is!
Sincerely, Amanda3 comments
Did they say anything about Sprint? I have a blackberry that my work provides and it has Sprint service. My cell has always worked at our place in Stagestop--and still works the same. Kind of sporadic as always. However, I always had perfect email data service for my work-- and now it get nothing at all since the new tower went up. I know some Verizon Storm users who came up last week and they had excellent cell and email, and internet service both on their blackberry storm phones. Maybe it's a Sprint thing!
Also as an FYI we were getting about 2 bars then it would drop to 1 on occasions, for the practicality of dumping the land line we did pick up a repeater. Now we get 3-5 bars around the house and within 50 feet of the house.
