Building Excellent Schools Today (BEST) or House Bill 1335 was passed in the State legislature in 2008 in order to provide matching funding for school districts with aging facilities that cannot afford to address all of the needs on their own.
Follow up:
The BEST program provides South Park Schools the opportunity to leverage State monies of up to 50% of the total project with a local match through the passage of a bond initiative in November 2009. South Park Schools has applied for BEST grant money for 2009 and on July 23rd was awarded grant monies for 2009 election cycle. Again, these monies will only be awarded with the passage of a local match.
